Infused Water

Earlier this week I posted about water and the science behind the intake recommendations. While staying hydrated is super important, sometimes drinking water can get boring. You want to avoid the added sugar and salt that can be lurking in juices and sodas, but you can’t handle gulping down another glass of the plain stuff. Sound familiar?

Infused water is going to change your life. It’s super easy to throw together and looks beautiful on display at a backyard party. With infused water, you get all of the flavour you want without any of the additives and sugar you find in soda. Below are three of my favourite flavour combinations. Give these a try next time you are craving something sweet and different – your waistline will thank you!

1) Cucumber & Lime & Mint

Layer sliced cucumbers, lime, and fresh mint in pitcher or jar and pour water overtop. For more flavour, muddle the mint before adding to jar.

2) Strawberry & Lemon & Basil

Layer sliced strawberries, lemon, and fresh basil for a flavour combination that is sweeter with a fresh kick. For an even sweeter taste, muddle the strawberries before adding – this will help the flavour to diffuse faster!

3) Blueberry & Orange

Layer blueberries and sliced oranges in a pitcher and fill with water. This one tastes the best when you let the flavours infuse overnight. Enjoy in the morning!

Fun tip: instead of ice cubes, freeze your berries ahead of time so they can act as ice cubes when you add them to your water!
